Do you love dogs and enjoy spending time with them? If so then a career as a dog trainer just may be right up your alley. Becoming a professional dog trainer is not that difficult and starting your own business can be very rewarding.
The place for anybody to start their career as a dog trainer is with obedience training. It is the beginning. The place where you learn things that are so important like leash handling and being able to read a dog. Quite often I talk to people who want to start their dog training career by getting involved with training dogs for law enforcement.
That is a big mistake for several reasons. They are trying to shortcut their dog training education by starting at the top without learning the basics from the beginning. I always suggest that a person learn to be a great obedience trainer first and then after their business is doing well and they are able to start making a living they add other areas of training like detection dogs for example.
Every person that I have seen that tried to start without the proper basic obedience education has failed in their business. So simply put do it right and start at the beginning.
Today there are schools all over the country that offer courses and program to teach you how to become a professional dog trainer. Just 20 years ago it was difficult to find a school close by to where you live. Today they are everywhere.
For dog training hopefuls that are not able to travel to a dog training school for 6 weeks to 6 months there are no some excellent online training programs that can bring the training right to your living room.
Yes, if you are working full time and unable to attend a program at a training center you simply need a program that you can do at your own pace and when you have the time to do the work.
Again a few years ago that was impossible however today there are programs that can give you everything you need to learn how to train and start your own business without you ever having to leave home.
So if this is something that interests you, take the time to research the possibilities and get started today. Good dog trainers are in demand in this multi- billion dollar business.
