I have some good news for you. It’s not really difficult to market yourself and sell your dog training services to dog owners. It may sound daunting — especially if you don’t have much experience with sales or marketing — however with just a few simple tricks, you can make this process easy.
Use Your Website to Get New Clients
Your job is to use your website to explain what makes you and your business special. For example, I’m different from other dog trainers because I’m available 7 days a week from 8 AM – 9 PM to answer all your questions. Another example is, I’m different from other trainers because I host a monthly group training session for all my clients at the local park FREE.
Capture Website Visitors Contact Info
I bet you have said, If I could only find new prospects, I would know exactly what to say to convince them I’m the right dog trainer for the job?
Well, there is an easy fix. By adding an option to subscribe to a newsletter or opt-in offer you’ll be able to get your visitors’ email addresses. Simply create a form that gives you their name, email and phone number. Now you have clients to contact about dog training.
There are many other ways to grab that info from your website visitors however this is the easiest to start with.
Don’t Just Sell — Engage!
I’m sure you will be tempted to immediately start blasting the list of new email addresses you captured, but hang on a second.
These dog owners are still getting to know you, so give them more reasons to realize that you’re the one to work with. If you provide these leads with content that continues to help them solve their dogs problems, who do you think they’re going to call when it’s time to start training?
Your content can be in the form of weekly blog articles, monthly newsletters, various social media posts and YouTube videos.
Be sure to send an email to your list every time you add a new piece of content, so they never miss an update. These dog owners will start to look forward to hearing from you and learning what you have to offer, while you’re building trust and authority.
Make sure to let your contacts know you’re looking for work and open the doors to opportunity.
And don’t forget they gave you their phone numbers so call them ASAP.
When you make that call be sure to let your personality shine so you can dazzle these new prospects. One of the best ways to make that happen is to SMILE while you are talking on the phone. You will be surprised what a difference a smile makes even on the phone. If these dog owners are impressed enough, they’ll give you their business.
These are just some of the things I have done in my business over the years and things I teach dog trainers to do to make more money with their business.
